This is one of my and my hubby’s favorite rice dish.my mom-in-lawTaught me this simple rice dish and can be make without much
effort.You can add other veggies of your choice like
potato,peas,carrots etc.

- Rice-1cup
- Cauliflower (florets)-1/2 cup
- Onion -1cut into slices
- Cumin seed-1/4 tsp
- Mustard seed-1/4 tsp
- Fenugreek( Methi) seed-1/4tsp
- Asafetida (hing)-pinch
- Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
- Tamarind pulp-1tbsp
- oil-1tbsp
- Methi (Fenugreek seed)-8-10 seeds
- Whole coriander seed-1tbsp
- chana dal(gram dal)-1tbsp
- whole red chilli-2
First dry roast coriander seed,chana dal, methi and dry red Chilli.
Roast till nice fragrant comes.
Once they cool, grind coarse grind.
Wash rice and drain the water and keep aside.
Heat oil in pressure cooker add mustard seed, cumin seed,hing
sauté for few seconds.
Add onions and cook till turn little golden brown.
Add cauliflower and turmeric powder, salt and mix it well.
Now add washed rice and coarsely ground masala cook for 1-2
minutes.
Add 2cups of water and tamarind pulp. Once its start boiling
give a nice
Stir otherwise veggie and rice will stuck in the bottom.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook till one
whistle comes.
Turn off the heat. Let the pressure go on by itself.
